ABSTRACT

Ramamoorthi J,  Sivaselvam SN, Subramanian A, Kumarasamy P, Karthickeyan SMK, Thangaraju P., Microsatellite alleles, polymorphisms and heterozygosity in Tellichery goats (Capra hircus), Onl J Bioinform., 25 (2) :113-118, 2024. Fifty goat blood samples were taken from genetically unrelated Tellichery goats with 5ml for extraction of genomic DNA. Twenty one microsatellite markers were selected for molecular characterization by PCR for typing 10bp genotype single homozygotes or double band heterozygotes. Allele frequencies were determined by direct genotype count and expected compared with observed by c2 test. All 21 loci were highly polymorphic with PIC values ranging 0.5785 to 0.8349. Significant differences (P<0.01) were noticed between observed and expected genotypes at 14 loci with highest expected heterozygosity 0.8504 and lowest 0.6445.
