In Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) associated genes, regulation of insulin secretion and glucose homeostasis
is mediated by regulatory microRNAs. Thirty genes are known to be involved in
metabolic pathways, operating in Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). MiRanda (1.0) was employed to predict target sites for
microRNA expressed in pancreatic islets in T2DM associated genes. Target sites
predicted by miRanda in 3’
UTR were compared with predictions of TargetScan and PicTar. Ten miRNAs targeting the genes were
identified.
