ABSTRACT

In Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) associated genes, regulation of insulin secretion and glucose homeostasis is mediated by regulatory microRNAs. Thirty genes are known to be involved in metabolic pathways, operating in Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). MiRanda (1.0) was employed to predict target sites for microRNA expressed in pancreatic islets in T2DM associated genes. Target sites predicted by miRanda in 3 UTR were compared with predictions of TargetScan and PicTar.  Ten miRNAs targeting the genes were identified.
