ABSTRACT
Casey RM, The corporate information factory as a bioinformatic framework, Onl J Bioinform., 1:42-50, 2002. The Corporate Information Factory (CIF) is an
architectural framework for supporting enterprise level information
systems. Bioinformatics is the application of information systems in
support of biological research. The CIF is a platform for integrating bioinformatic data from multiple sources, including public
and private databases, laboratory information systems, and genomic and
proteomic applications, managing bioinformatic data
in operational data stores, data warehouses, and data marts, and delivering
data to bioinformatic intelligence systems.
Data integration, data standardization, and data integrity are hallmarks of the
CIF. When fully implemented, the CIF infrastructure provides a foundation
for managing enterprise bioinformatic data.
